I’ve seen the Blaupunkt GBW120 12″ subwoofer on WalMart.com for a while now and the $19.99 price tag just seemed crazy to me (now $24.99). Buy 2 and shipping is even free! This sub has decent specs and 400 watt RMS power handling and 800 watts peak. I decided it would be really cool to mount it inside the acrylic Gately Audio subwoofer box and do some demos, then see how much power it would handle before it blows up. How much do you think it will take?

  1. I would have liked to have gotten a better illustration of simply running at 400 watts how was the distortion level? The thing seems to have performed very well can't blame it for putting a 3,000 watt amp onto it

  2. Blaupunkt was a well known German hi quality Radio and Hifi company til it got broken and the name was sold…..

  3. I came to laugh at it but it is actually a pretty impressive for a $20 speaker. It actually has me considering one for my little work Ranger.

  4. Looks like it is based on the same driver as my Renegade 600w (300wrms). How much power would you recommend to run it on?

  5. I'm overdue to subscribe…been to a few of your vids for the dynos. Would love to see more sub test. You are a standard sir.

  6. Seems as there is a bad batch of voice coil epoxy being used i think it would have held the 8 if the glue would have took the heat

  7. Wow, I didn't know Blaupunkt was still around. They used to make some good stuff back in the day.

  8. That's amazing quality for ~$20. Back in the day around that price would land you a "VR3" brand subwoofer that would make a loud popping noise if turned up to a decent sounding volume. Now you can get one of these that can actually handle entry-level amps, and could last years too!
