One of the helpful viewers just posted the following solution to the backup camera install…

“Ok your issue with the reverse is simple! Just had this same issue on a BV755B
Violet/white wire has to go to the reverse 12 volt. If it is on the reverse light properly it triggers the radio to go to the camera when it sees 12 volt from the reverse wire.
(But after you hook that up make sure to go into the setting menu and turn on the trigger for the reverse. If you have that trigger off it will not work except for when you are on the backup camera menu and in reverse)

Also if you want to get really slick with the setup power the backup camera off of a 12volt keyed on (acc), and then put the violet/white wire to the reverse light wire.
This will allow the auto trigger to work every time you put it in reverse, but then when you go into the camera menu it will always power on the camera no matter if you are park, drive, etc. Then you can use the backup camera like a rearview mirror.” ..

  2. A most excellent presentation and description and better than most I have seen. Today, I purchased this same radio to fit to my van.

  3. Did this model come with built in navigation GPS? I see some of the boss models have that and come with a maps card that plugs right into the front face plate under the volume knob. I am thinking that fact is going to be what seals my choice for the boss, I was thinking pioneer but they're more costly and then you have to purchase the navigation separately with a wierd module that has to be mounted in addition to the radio, and not like the antenna either, that is another one.

  4. Beggars shouldn't be choosy! I don't get why people are so picky and sadistic with their YouTube comments give the guy a break he Is providing free information for the benefit of the viewing public. And doing this install with one hand… can you just deal with it?

  5. Fail for the black tape. That parts a short time in hot vehicles.
He skipped the Bluetooth pairing that I was here for. Boooooo

  10. Good video. I would say excellent if you did just little bit of editing (I was getting vertigo while you were whipping the camera around at the back) and of course shooting in vertical mode absolutely drives me crazy! Otherwise good job!

  11. I need help I need a code for me to get my stereo back on to hear music how can I do that I don’t have the booklet All It asking me I need a code shows like numbers 1 to 5 how can I open it back up

  12. your backup camera port is on the back of the radio if you look on the radio it will say cam.  its in the middle of the RCA ports on the back of the radio

  13. dude take your reverse signal from the trailer harness next time. thanks for the vid!

  14. This young mans" video was very helpful and informative. The only issue I had when installing this radio and a HDE plate mounted backup camera was How do camera was "How do you get the unit to automatically show the rear camera view when the vehicle is in reverse?" I contacted Boss Technical Support and they told me this unit would perform this function if a separate wire was "ran" from my vehicles' "reverse circuit" to the wire on the back of the unit marked "Camera". I tried running the wire from 2 separate fuses marked "reverse/backup lights". This didn't work for me because the constant power flow at the fuse box kept the unit in camera mode with no view from the camera. In the end I ended up running a separate wire from where the rearview camera got its" power (tied in at reverse light and "ran" through the vehicle and connected to "Camera" wire on the back of the unit. Now whenever the vehicle is in reverse the camera display is automatically shown. No matter what mode the unit is in or if the unit is powered off, the rear camera will be displayed on the Head unit.

  15. Just an update! It's about 4 years later and my Boss Audio CD/DVD player works just as well as it did from day one! I'm sad that I was never able to figure out how to get the backup camera to turn on automatically when you put the vehicle in reverse, but if any of you figured it out, please comment and let us know how. THANK YOU for your comments and support.

  16. My Boss unit, (BVB9364RC) has an integrated front panel microphone. The pictures on the website where I purchased it show an included external microphone also, Have not received my stereo yet, so I am not sure if it has both options.
