  6. I never heard of corrosion of the different terminals due to different over or under charge conditions. That’s interesting. Very cool test with the LED bulb to show the small current drain on the top of the battery! I never saw that before, which really makes you think about keeping the battery clean! Excellent video overall!

  7. AGM batteries for the win. Those old school top caps are corrosion masters. Hot water will neutralize and clean all that corrosion off. YES clean the top of the battery like he said too.

  8. Wow. That’s good information thanks. It’s sad you have to put in a disclaimer telling people do at own risk. Peeps are dumb and want to make a quick buck from litigation.

  11. Positive battery corrosion is from wicking of the sulfuric ions inside with the current flow to the outside. Corrosion on the negative terminal is from unbalanced cell or cells in the battery or one that starts to change polarity under load.

  16. My dad was a NY certified mechanic and all around petrol head, who also owned a gas/repair shop.
Dialectric grease is good, however you can also simply apply vaseline around the battery terminal and leads before reattaching everything. Seems to last 2-3 years here in the NE, which is probably about when one would need to do some basic PMCS on a battery anyways. Since I have Permatex Anti-Seize, I use that which also works very well.

  17. One thing i may add is they make Felt anti- corrosion washers that go on the posts prior to attaching the cable clamps. Cheap Insurance to combat corrosion as well as high resistance shorts across the battery case if it gets dirty enough to allow a conductive path.

  18. Couple weeks ago my car wouldn't start. Took it to get checked and it was the diodes, so i replaced the alternator and still nothing. So i replaced the battery thinking it drained and same thing. well yes it was the terminals that were dirty and also the negative terminal was broken. Saddest part the tech who replaced the battery failed to mentioned it because it wasn't part of his job. 🤦‍♂️lesson learned start by the terminals and battery.

  19. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👌👌👌👌👌👌✌👋
