  1. I will sometimes carry just a fixed blade. It's okay for utility use so long as you don't let it get dull. This gets easier with better steel. Just be sure to strop or sharpen as needed.

  2. To which I ask, which is the best for outdoors? Like fishing. No extreme work, just cleaning

  3. I carry a Spyderco Manix 2XL & have a zip tie on the "Spydie" hole to give it opening capabilities like the Emerson wave design. I can honestly get my knife out ready to be used in an instant. I know fixed blades are stronger but I don't think a person would ever break a lock on a quality knife in a fight. The tri ad lock from cold steel , the compression & ball bearing lock from Spyderco are just a few examples of locks that won't fail with intense use. What do you think about the Manix 2XL for a tactical knife used for defense?

  4. This Fat Boy has an obsession on Dont Tread on Me, he must have been bullied and ridiculed a lot when he has younger

  5. The most I would ever use the PM2 for is opening a letter. It's really not that great, and I don't see what everyone gets their pussy wet over. I ended up giving mine to my Wife and she still uses her Emerson mini Commander more. It's a good knife but if you do anything abusive or hard use that shit this will fail.

  6. If your are going to carry two blades, make the work blade a Victorinox Trekker … much more useful than any folder …

  7. I don't think we think about it too much, but you could crush someone's skull in an emergency situation with the folder without even opening it, for a quick get away. In all honesty that would probably be more effective than trying to slice them, a stab might be as effective but I doubt they would notice a slice with adrenaline rushing and would be a chance to turn it back on you.

  8. Good thoughts. I actually carry a CD Voyager XL Tanto and either a BK24 or a Mora Bushcraft black. I have no issues sing either blades for self defense. The Voyager I carry horizontal in a belt pouch on my left side. I can draw it form the pouch and open the blade simultaneously. It comes out real fast. Had to practice a little but I got it down. One of the other blades I carry in my right side small pocket, about knee high, on my carpenter style jeans. That will also come out real fast. Voyager though, I consider more of my defensive because it has a 5.5" blade and with the Cold Steel lock, I doubt it will break. The longer blade allows me to keep more distance and still be effective. I am an old guy, 68, so I can't move that fast anymore. I need every advantage I can have if I need to resort to my knife for protection. Hope I never have to.
