Hi everyone! In this video I discuss my formula/method for calculating FO % and to find out how much wax weight it takes to fill up any jar you are using!
Instead of just explaining the numbers, I wanted to demonstrate it because I know that so many of us are visual learners.
(I realized after editing and posting this video that an easier way to explain the expansion in wax weight to volume is that it expands by approx. 33%. 24-33%=16.08)

**METRIC SYSTEM CONVERSION**

0.64 x (ml of jar) = amount of grams needed to fill container
Example for 9 oz (266 ml jar):
0.64 x 266 = 170 g

I hope this helps!! Please ask any questions in the comments:)

  3. Will you help, so if I want to make a candle with total of 100g how many grams of oil will that be?xx

  4. Can you put the actual wax weight need to fill each of these hexagon mason jars? 4oz, 6oz, and 8oz please.so far what i have is 30z fill weight is 2.4g of wax, 4oz fill weight is 3.2oz of wax, 6oz-4.8oz, 8oz-6.4oz,10oz-8oz,12oz-9.6oz,14oz-11.2oz, 16oz-12.8oz and 20oz-16oz of wax i dont know if i am correct

  5. This is excellent info, but other than having a bit of wax left over, is it critical to reduce the overall volume? I don’t imagine an extra oz to ruin a batch. I’m also bad at math so I would almost be ok with leftover liquid so put into tea light samples or something. Love your vids!!

  6. I’m still a little confused 😩 I got a candle making kit and it provided me with fragrance oils to use. However, the fragrance oils given were all 10ml each… and apparently you need 1oz of fragrance oil to add into 16oz of wax and this was a problem for me because Idk how to measure ml for oz. when I attempted to do the calculation on how much 10ml was in comparison to 1 oz, it said it was 0.338. I ended up using the entire 10ml oil for my 16oz wax. Can someone help me or know if that was the correct way to do it or any advice on how to use fragrance oils for candle making when you have little bottles of fragrance oils such as 10ml?? 😩

  7. Hi, I’m wondering if you could help please

My wax has a fragrance load of 6% My candle net weight is 150g. My fragrance percentage is 10%. I’m struggling on how to calculate to get the correct formula of fragrance oil.

    Thank you

  8. I just measure everything and make sure it's all the same in grams , 259g which is honey beeswax slightly bigger than your wee tins as it's the perfect amount, then i use like 10 grams off fragrance oil 😂 if you wanna do it in grams I'd appreciate it 😂 as I haven't a clue what I'm doing lol I just wing it

  9. Hi do you think you could do this in grams it would be helpful cause I am in Australia we use grams 😊

  10. Hi can i ask u??
Ive been thinking on selling candles too. But i dont know if the calculation i do is right or not?
    Its
    Myy net weight÷(100%+8%)= wax need
    200ml÷(108%)= 185
    Then 200- 185=15ml.
    Is ut true. Pls respondddd🤗

  11. I get the calculation, however if you are measuring when the wax is hard, doesn’t it change when it becomes a liquid? I did the exact calculation and I didn’t have enough

  12. Finally! Even I can grasp this. May I ask, what do you call the small weighing scale that you have please? What measurements does it go up to? Thanks in advance!

  13. I'm so bad at math too and I totally got it!! Thanks so much!! I wondered if you had the conversions written in grams….so I don't have to convert it myself? I totally can but if it's on your site I would love to print it off. Thanks so much for doing this video though, it WAS SO HELPFUL!! :)

  14. If you want to figure wax minus your scent load, this may be easier for you.
amount of wax divided by 1.(scent load) = wax. Then take your Wax and multiply by % total scent load = scent load.
Example: 10oz container fill with a 10% fragrance load.
    10 / 1.10 = 9.09 oz of wax
    9.09 x .10 = .91 of scent
    9.09 + .91 = 10oz.
    Hope this helped somebody. 😊

  15. Thanks for sharing all this valuable info! My issues has been when making multiple candles (8.5oz wax fill and 10% FO per candle – individual candle sizing was good did 20 trying FOs) but I did multiple – three (8.5×3 simple math and 10% FO – CS way – got two full and half of one jar!). I just tried your formula by melting wax and adding and seems that 9oz (255g) is correct for CS tumbler jar. Do I just multiple that with # of candles I am trying to make? Now I am scared to multiply as every candle maker does this different way; I tried few and end up with: 11.1oz(wooden wicks), 9.36oz (Jeff s.), 9oz (you) and CS website suggest 8.5 oz wax fill! Please help! After month of figuring out wicks, issues with sweating, mushrooming, tunneling, now this.. I use 464 soy wax. Feel completely defeat, spend 10 lbs of wax and 20 jars! Thank you!! Looking forward to your advice!❤️
