In my opinion steel tripod stands are the best anvil stands. I prefer them over wooden stumps..

    2×4's stacked up in layers like bricks and secured to each other with decking screws leaving a void in the middle. Fill the middle with concrete and that makes for a great anvil stand if like me you don't have a welder. I have a Brooks 110lb anvil on it and it works fantastically and allows you to adjust the height
    (Could be a good idea for your classes with the adjustable height just by varying the about of 2×4 "bricks" Andy)
